High Point Teen Dies After Being Shot in Head, Left in Roadway: Police

Police say Deanthony Little, 17, was in the car with two other people who were also shot, but left Little in the roadway and drove away from the area.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point Police say a teenager died following a triple shooting Monday night.

Police were dispatched to the area of Brentwood Street and Nathan Hunt Drive after receiving a call about several gunshots and a red vehicle speeding away from the area.

Officers found 17-year-old Deanthony J. Little in the roadway. They say he'd been shot in the head. EMS transported him to Moses Cone Hospital where he later died.

A Guilford County Schools spokesperson said Little attended High Point Central High up until December 2018, but didn't graduate.

Police say Little was in a car with two other people who'd also been shot. Investigators say the two other victims, identified as 17-year-old Khasi Gladden and 20-year-old Kameron Turner, removed Little from the car and drove off. Gladden and Turner were later found in separate locations, and were treated for non-life threatening injuries at the hospital. Police say Gladden had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody by High Point officers after receiving treatment.

The 911 calls paint a painful picture:

911: How many shots did you hear?

Caller 1: "A lot. At least 5, 7."

Caller 2: "We heard, like 8, 8-10 shots."

Caller 3: "His friend called me from his phone and said my brother got shot in the head."

Caller 4: "Right here by Nathan Hunt Drive he's bleeding out his head bad, like bad."

Caller 5: "My baby got shot in his head, please {muffled cries}."

Police say Little, Gladden, and Turner were involved in an argument with another car that followed them, and there was an exchange of gunfire between the two vehicles. Police believe this was not a random shooting and the two parties knew each other.

Police found the silver car they believe the three victims were in. They say it had a large amount of blood on the interior. Police also seized a gun from the car, and another gun near the car.

Police are not releasing suspect information at this time, and are asking anyone with information about this shooting to please call Crime Stoppers of High Point at 336-889-4000.
