WEATHER SUMMARY:

As we kick off the weekend, our Saturday looks to get off to a mainly dry start. This should last for this morning and midday with only a low chance of a shower during these times. By the afternoon, thunderstorms will start to pop up and some of them could be strong to severe. Our whole area is in a Level 1 (out of 5) risk for severe weather today. Gusty winds or hail are possible in any storms. Temperatures will cool with a backdoor cold front that moves through Saturday evening and we'll be in the 50s for Sunday morning.

The on and off rain will continue to start Sunday, but will start to end by lunchtime or maybe even earlier. Sunday afternoon is looking to be mostly dry with clouds slowly decreasing. Temperatures will be in the 50s in the morning and warm into the upper 60s Sunday afternoon.  This would be good news for the North Wilkesboro All-Star race at 8pm.

We'll dry out for a few days heading into next week. Temperatures seem to be trending a little cooler for the first part of the week as high pressure to our north and low pressure off the coast deliver cooler and moist air. This may also give us extra clouds for Monday, too with high temperatures in the mid 70s, but warming up to near 80 by Tuesday and low 80s Wednesday.

The normal low is 57, and the normal high is 78.
