WEATHER SUMMARY:
The severe weather outlook for our area has been upgraded to a "Slight Risk" (Level 2) for today and tonight. The main trigger for storms after 3pm will be hot temperatures. High temperatures today will be near 87. This will likely be the hottest day of the year. While there will not be a high number of storms later today, all the heat energy will cause the storms to reach severe levels. Rain and storms will be on going tonight with a low of 66.
Our next system approaches the area Thursday afternoon but will not cross the Piedmont until Friday. It is still a bit unclear as to the number of severe storms we will have Thursday afternoon and Thursday night, but we are in the "Slight Risk" for that period. Damaging winds, hail, and even an isolated tornado can't be ruled out. It is possible that if rain moves in Thursday morning, this could limit the severe threat later in the day. This is not for certain, and we should be on guard for severe weather Thursday. The high will be 84.
With the cold front still to our west Friday morning, we will likely see scattered showers for at least the first half of Friday. It will be cooler with a high of 74. The weekend will be dry and cooler. High temperatures will be in the lower 70's with lows cooling to the upper 40's.
