WEATHER SUMMARY:
All of the WFMY NEWS 2 viewing area is in NC and Virginia is in the "Marginal Risk" (Level 1) for isolated strong to severe storms late afternoon and through the evening hours. The time will be roughly be 4pm to 10 pm. The threats will be damaging thunderstorm winds and hail. The contributing factors to isolated storms will be afternoon heating as highs reach near 80, and the approach of a cold front that will cross the area before midnight. There could even be a few isolated showers this morning. Showers and storms will dissipate this evening and it will be partly cloudy overnight with a low of 58. Saturday looks mainly dry. It will be partly cloudy with a high of 75.
It looks like rain will move back in for Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. The cold front will sag to our south. A low-pressure wave will develop on the front and send moisture back our way. Light rain is expected to develop Sunday afternoon and end last Sunday night. Forecast highs for Sunday will be tricky. The forecast is for a high of 60. However, the rain-cooled atmosphere may hold highs in the upper 50's. The atmosphere is expected to be too cool and stable to support the development of thunderstorms.
Monday and Tuesday will be partly sunny and dry. The high Monday will be 65, and 72 on Tuesday. The morning low on Monday will be 46, and 44 on Tuesday.
The normal low is 49, and the normal high is 72.
