MURRELLS INLET, S.C. — The body of a man whose wife lied about his disappearance was found under her home in a trash bag.
Authorities confirm that a trash bag was found under Irene Clodfelter's house containing the remains of her missing husband, Hurbert. The trash bag was found by his two daughters, who said they had not seen him for two years.
The Horry County Coroner's Office said Wednesday dental records were used to confirm Hurbert Clodfelter's identity. His daughters said they saw and touched their father's body Friday inside a trash bag under his home.
Clodfelter's wife, Irene, has been charged with obstructing justice, desecration of human remains and accessory after the fact of murder.
Irene Clodfelter said that her son, who is also dead, killed her husband, police say.
Her lawyer said they will fight the charges.
