NC Representative Wants the Moravian Cookie As The Official State Cookie

The Moravian cookie is a part of our state's rich history.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina Representative Jon Hardister filed a bill Tuesday that would make Moravian cookies our official state cookie and the USS North Carolina our official state battleship.

Rep. Holly Grange (R- New Hanover) Rep. Donny Lambeth (R-Forsyth) and Rep. Ashton Clemmons (D-Guilford) joined Hardister as primary sponsors of the bill.

The bill aims to honor North Carolina's rich history and its early settlers. The Moravians settled here during the colonial times and their culture continues with their Moravian cookies.

The legislation also aims to honor the veterans of WWII with the recognition of the USS North Carolina as the official state battleship.

This symbolizes North Carolina’s rich history of military service and dedication to freedom.
