That's a superhero smile right there.

What's the next step after winning an Academy Award? Playing a superhero, of course.

Brie Larson made it official Saturday at Comic-Con: She's playing  Carol Danvers, otherwise known as Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters  March 8, 2019, but the character is  thought to make an appearance in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War — Part I. The story follows an Air Force pilot whose DNA gets infused with a Kree alien, giving her the powers of super strength, flight and energy projection.

While we've absolutely loved the names that had been thrown around for Captain Marvel previously — including Emily Blunt, Katee Sackhoff and Yvonne Strahovski — we're immediately behind Larson in this role. Here are a few reasons why Larson is perfect to play Carol Danvers.

1. She's already proven she can command a room

No pun intended. And we actually mean that scene in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World where she stole the show as Envy Adams with just her voice and some knee-high red boots.

2. She can snark with the best of them

Her role in Trainwreck shows she has some exceptional comedy skills, and we know that every Marvel movie requires a healthy dose of witty banter. Plus, we can't wait to see her roll her eyes at the idiotic antics that Iron Man & Co. get into.

3. Her acting skills are unquestionably top-notch

Not only did Larson emotionally wreck us in Room, she's shown time and again that she can bounce from soul-crushing performances like Short Term 12 to hilarious supporting roles as in 21 Jump Street. A skill probably needed for Carol's emotional journey from being an ordinary (if an exceptionally good pilot) human being to a sudden superhero.

4. She's better than most people

We kid — but, seriously, Larson is already a superhero in our books.
